About Guilty as Sock
The story behind the sock-themed mystery game that's taking game nights by storm.
Our Story
Guilty as Sock began as a simple idea at a weekend gathering of friends in 2022. After discovering a pile of mismatched socks and joking about which sock was the "guilty one" that kept disappearing from the dryer, we created an impromptu game where each person took on the role of a sock character trying to solve the mystery.
What started as a spontaneous activity quickly became the highlight of our game nights. We refined the rules, developed character templates, and crafted engaging mysteries for players to solve. Word spread, and soon friends of friends were asking for copies of our homemade game.
In 2023, we decided to share Guilty as Sock with a wider audience by creating this website. Our mission is to provide all the resources players need to host their own sock-themed mystery nights and to build a community of Guilty as Sock enthusiasts around the world.
Why Socks?
Socks are the perfect metaphor for mystery games - they come in pairs but often end up separated, they have distinct patterns and personalities, and there's always one that seems to be hiding something.
Plus, the humble sock is universal - everyone has them, everyone loses them, and everyone has wondered where they disappear to. This familiar mystery makes the game instantly relatable and hilariously fun to play.
Our Philosophy
We believe that games should bring people together, encourage creativity, and create memorable experiences. Guilty as Sock embodies these values by:
- Fostering social interaction and communication
- Encouraging players to step into character roles
- Providing a framework that's easy to learn but deep to master
- Creating laughter and joy through absurd sock scenarios
